Curtin is WA’s most preferred university and is globally recognised for its strong connections with industry, high-impact research and wide range of innovative courses.
Our strong global reputation has seen us rise up the international university rankings in recent years. We’re now ranked in the top two per cent of universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities 2016 and have risen to 262 in the world on the QS World University Ranking 2017-18.
We’re also ranked 22nd globally for universities under the age of 50 in the QS World University Rankings 2018 and received a five-star overall excellence rating in the QS Stars rating.
When you join Curtin, you join an international family. Around a third of our 53,000 students come from a country outside Australia, which adds a valuable dimension to your university experience, both in and out of the classroom.
This worldwide focus has resulted in Curtin being ranked one of the world’s most international universities, and the second-most international university in Australia, in 2016 by Times Higher Education.
One of the world’s most international universities
Curtin has risen to 262 in the world in the 2017-18 QS World University Rankings.
We climbed 33 places to a rank 302nd in the world and remain 9th in Australia in the 2016-2017 University Ranking by Academic Performance (URAP), and are positioned at 355th in the world and 10th in Australia in the 2017 CWTS Leiden Ranking.
Curtin ranks in the 401 – 500 band in the Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THEWUR) and was ranked 26th in the 2016 THEWUR: 200 Most International Universities in the World ranking. In the 2017 Times Higher Education Asia-Pacific University Rankings, Curtin ranks 69th out of 243 institutions and is placed 25th in Australia.
As these rankings are driven largely by research performance, the results can be attributed to our innovative research that aims to solve real world problems.
Among the best young universities
In a global review of young institutions under 50 years, Curtin was placed 22nd globally and 5th nationally in the QSWUR: Top 50 Under 50. The University is also placed 84th in the world and 14th nationally in the THE Top 200 universities under 50.
In the QSWUR by Subject, Curtin has 16 subjects ranked in the top 200 worldwide.
Curtin was also awarded five stars overall in the 2017 QS Stars University Ratings.
